Welcome to Locus
Locus is a new, not-for-profit organisation operated by a team with a deep understanding, and a true passion, for developing exceptional places.
‘Locus’ comes from the Latin word for ‘place’ and is the origin of terms such as local and location.
The Locus team views each place individually, with its own unique characteristics and meaning. If the personality of a place is to really shine, its own distinctiveness needs to be combined with inspiring people. That is what we are all about at Locus – working in, and forming partnerships with, extraordinary places and amazing people.
Our purpose is simple and effective:
“putting people and place first”
We combine place-shaping with place-marketing and the development of local partnerships. We have particular specialism in Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and Destination Management Organisations (DMO).
Our CEO, Paul Clement, is a familiar face with over 20-years in the industry. Alongside him is a small, experienced team with the ability, agility, and ideas to adapt to all locations. Our Chair is Terry Baxter who has led the Ipswich Central BID since 2013, in which time it has diversified and developed its own DMO. Sophie Alexander-Parker is our COO, and the Director of Corporate Services is Trish Summers. They are joined by Jack Cripps (Marketing and Communications), Luke Winter (Project Analyst) and Leah Ambrose (Business Support).
Paul comments: “The place landscape, particularly within town and city centres, continues to change rapidly. The digital-age is maturing and consumer habits are evolving. Our approach at Locus is to be at the forefront of that change and to succeed by combining extraordinary places with amazing people. I think we offer something different and we are hugely excited to get going”
