Great Border City BID, Carlisle - board applications sought
The Cumberland BID Company Limited, is a private not-for-profit company, limited by guarantee, established to operate the new Carlise business improvement district (BID). A copy of its 5-year manifesto can be found HERE
Following a successful ballot outcome, a founder board has worked to establish the organisation and its future governance arrangements. The priority now is to expand the board with additional representatives from businesses and other organisations to oversee the long-term strategic direction of the BID and ensure that levy funds are used effectively and transparently for the benefit of the wider city.
Applications for board membership are sought particularly from sectors such as large retail, legal and professional, banking and finance, industrial and manufacturing, marketing and communications, and property owners. The desired outcome is a diverse, balanced and representative group, including small businesses and ensuring that the voice of young people is captured.
The company is also seeking a board chair who should have an affinity with (ideally via a business association) and a passion for Carlisle, as well as a commitment to the aims and objectives of the organisation.
A copy of the directors’ terms of reference and the chair’s job description can be downloaded from this page. The required application process is that candidates wishing to be considered must do so by emailing a CV and covering letter to carlisle@locusms.com to detail in particular:
Any board, trustee or senior oversight roles, including responsibility for governance, finance, audit, risk or compliance.
Experience of leading or overseeing complex organisations, programmes or partnerships.
Roles, interests or relationships to ensure transparency and the management of any potential conflicts of interest.
Why the director/chair role (or both - please specify) is of interest and how you see your contribution helping to achieve the BID's vision and ambitions.
