NEWS: Brentwood chooses Locus to explore potential new BID network

Locus are collaborating with Brentwood Borough Council, to explore the feasibility of developing a Business Improvement District (BID), or a network of BIDs, in their boundary.

Brentwood Borough Council has been working closely with the Brentwood Business Partnership to support Locus’s feasibility study. This includes a survey of businesses along the Brentwood, Shenfield and Ingatestone high streets in the borough.

Brentwood’s town centre is home to national retailers, independent shops, banks, salons and shopping centres and cafes and it is often voted as one of the most desirable places to live in the UK. The most cited reasons for this are an outstanding quality of life and a crime rate well below the national average.

Our CEO, Paul Clement, said:

"It is great to be partnering with Brentwood Borough Council and the Brentwood Business Partnership to explore the feasibility of BIDs, along with other ways of bringing enhancement to Brentwood, Shenfield and Ingatestone. These are very important and different locations, which complement and support one another and their local communities. Each will have its own distinctive wants and needs.”

“This project offers us the chance to really get under the skin of these locations and find out what their future priorities are. We have already been involved in recent partnership conversations which have been very positive. Drawing from our extensive experience within the industry we are looking forward to sharing our knowledge with the team and moving this project forward."

Councillor Chris Hossack, Leader of Brentwood Borough Council said:

“It’s important that local businesses in Brentwood have their say on BIDs and with the help of Locus, we can explore these possibilities further.

"We all know that high streets are changing, and they need to be adaptable for changing lifestyles and shopping habits. We are lucky that our entrepreneurs and businesses have built an incredibly resilient range of stores and services already in Brentwood, Ingatestone and Shenfield. Whether a BID is the best way to build on that offer - I hope our local businesses will tell us."
