The Clapham Junction Business Improvement District (BID), in the heart of Battersea, has appointed Locus to partner with them for the next 18 months to help determine priorities.

The Junction BID was established in 2019 with the prime focus of improving the area as a place to work, live, visit, and do business. Locus, the place-management specialists will support The Junction’s BID by offering their vast support, knowledge and expertise.

The Junction BID focuses on three key areas, within its work: namely, Marketing and Promotions; Events and Safe and Welcoming. The area is currently undergoing considerable transformation, including the extensive redevelopment of the historic Grade II listed Arding and Hobbs building, in the epicenter of Clapham Junction. This iconic building, once completed, will create flexible retail and leisure facilities across the ground and basement floors and introduce modern office space to the upper levels.

Chris Barnard, our Head of Place, comments:

“Clapham Junction is a fascinating, bustling area with so much potential. A train departs from the rail station every thirty seconds making it, statistically, the busiest rail terminus in the world. Clapham Junction also offers a plethora of strong independent retail offerings, and a thriving restaurant and bar scene. With this considerable footfall and traffic passing through the area, combined with the abundance of independent shops and hospitality outlets, there is plenty of scope for the BID to further develop its delivery, benefiting local businesses and residents, whilst also enriching the visitor experience.”

“For places, it’s all about location, location, location - Clapham Junction is oozing with potential, promise and culture - we can’t wait to get stuck in.”

Anthony Ioannou, Chair of The Clapham Junction Business Improvement District (BID) adds:

“We’re delighted to be working with Locus for the remainder of our BID term, and look forward to collaborating with them over the next eighteen months. We welcome the opportunity to work alongside a team of experts with such varied experience across the placemaking industry and further raise the profile of Clapham Junction; improving the trading environment for businesses, the shopping experience for both residents and visitors, and to drive tourism.”
